Cultivation Begins from Infancy - Ch 1165

Volume 3 - Chapter 374: Then Come at Me - Part 3

He didn’t recognize the man.

“It’s fine if you don’t remember me. Since you’ve forfeited today, I’m not really breaking the rules. Jin, do you want to go first, or should I?”

He turned to Jin Fengling, smiling casually as he asked.

Jin Fengling narrowed his eyes, glancing at him. He hadn’t known Li Hao had a grudge with this white-robed youth, but naturally, he wouldn’t let Li Hao die at someone else’s hands. He still intended to trap Li Hao’s primordial spirit in the Slaughter Demon Sword, to slowly torment and refine him until he wished he were dead.

“Of course I’ll go first. But these nuisances—don’t let them get in my way. I’ll capture him alive and let you have a few slaps at him to vent your anger.”

Jin Fengling said coldly.

The white-haired youth arched a brow and smiled. “Sounds good.”

As he spoke, he waved his hand lightly. From the void behind him, another figure emerged—an elder, plump in build, with narrow eyes that seemed kindly and amiable. Yet in this moment, with no smile on his face, those slitted eyes gleamed like willow-leaf blades, cold and sharp as icy stars.

At the sight of him, the Great Dream Master and the others’ expressions changed.

Another Immortal King.

With this addition, even if they staked their lives, they might not be able to protect Li Hao.

Before they could react, yet another figure stepped out from not far away, speaking blandly:

“If there’s still a chance, I wouldn’t mind giving him two slaps as well—as repayment for wronging my junior sister earlier.”

Li Hao turned to look. The speaker was the young man who’d stood beside the green-dressed girl earlier—an Immortal Lord, and likewise a contestant in the tournament. Born of a prominent clan, he was clearly here to kick someone while they were down.

Li Hao wasn’t surprised by his appearance. After one glance, his gaze settled again on the white-robed youth.

He was certain—he had never had any contact with this person.

Seeing the look in Li Hao’s eyes, the white-robed youth seemed to guess his thoughts and curled his lips into a faint smile.

Suddenly, a voice echoed in Li Hao’s mind.

“Confused? Consider it my kindness to let you die with clarity. I’m just here to curry favor with the Celestial Palace. You refused the Supreme One—he won’t allow you to leave alive. It’s just that, for the sake of appearances, he can’t kill you himself. So I’m doing him a small favor, in accordance with the emperor’s will.”

Hearing this, realization dawned in Li Hao’s eyes. All doubts vanished from his heart.

He drew in a deep breath. When his eyes opened again, they were as deep and dark as the sea, and filled with a boundless, intense killing intent.

It was fiercer, heavier, than even when he’d slaughtered Ancient Fiends.

In a tavern somewhere within a celestial dynasty, Mi Xueyao, dressed in a black gown, propped her cheek on her hand, gazing up at the sky screen. The moment she saw the youth’s expression change, she suddenly straightened, her eyes gleaming with excitement and amusement.

“Tsk tsk tsk… Now it’s getting real. The human race really is more interesting than Father said. Such a monstrous prodigy, yet trapped within his own clan, with everyone calling for his death—what a delightful mess!”

“If I’d known he’d be this entertaining, I would’ve taken him with me back then. Brought him home. Father would’ve adored him!”

As she spoke, a trace of regret flitted through her eyes.

Li Hao’s cooking alone could make her kin taste so exquisitely delicious—and even nourish the primordial spirit. If her father found out, he would certainly cherish Li Hao, protect him at all costs.

But given this current crisis, she knew—there was no way the boy could escape.

What she didn’t understand was this: how had a people so absurdly foolish as the humans managed to contend with the Ancient Fiends for a hundred thousand years?

Was it really the lingering grace of those last few Immortal Emperors from a hundred millennia ago that still protected them?

As she thought of her own clan and the other royal houses of Ancient Fiends, a sigh escaped her lips. Perhaps they weren’t much better than the humans. At times, their absurdity was downright laughable.

“Then come.”

Li Hao’s gaze was deep and black, locked onto Jin Fengling, filled with nothing but an icy, bone-piercing killing intent.

“Patriarch, let him come.”

The Great Dream Master trembled. All the Dao-weave ribbons around her quivered along with her heart. Gritting her teeth, she could hardly bear the shame and helplessness that had not visited her in so many years.

Now, with two Immortal Kings locking their presence onto her, even if she risked total annihilation, she couldn’t protect Li Hao—not for long.

For a hundred thousand years, they had hoped, waited, yearned for the rise of a supreme genius to restore the sect’s glory across the Southern Domain—to be worthy of those forebears who had once fought and died for the clan.

And now, that hope had come, that genius had appeared.

And she had to watch him be killed—right before her eyes?

He was still so young!

“Great Dream Clan… I, Wan Ning, fear I’m about to… fail you!”

She suddenly looked to the void. There was only endless starlight—but her gaze reached across unimaginable distances, to where the Great Dream Clan truly lay.
