Volume 3 - Chapter 381: The Quasi-Imperial Scion - Part 1
"Immortal Kings warring?!"
In the Southern Region, countless onlookers were struck with horror at the sight before them. Though this outcome had been vaguely foreseen, its actual arrival still sent a chill through every heart.
After all, this chaos had been sparked by a mere True Immortal.
Yet it had escalated to involve the top one hundred clans of the True Realm. Under the watchful eyes of all, multiple Immortal Kings erupted into open battle. Not even during ancient demon invasions at the borders of the Immortal Dynasties had such a scene unfolded in recent times.
"Why has it come to this? Must they truly kill that Haotian?"
"Haotian is a peerless prodigy of our Human Clan. So what if he's the descendant of a Sin Immortal? As long as he swears by his Dao Heart to serve the Human Clan and slay the ancient fiends, wouldn’t he still be a great hero of our age?"
"Exactly! The child has only lived a hundred years. A hundred short years—barely enough for proper cultivation, let alone understanding worldly treachery or social subtleties. With the right guidance, he could yet walk the righteous path. Why must they destroy him?!"
“The Hidden Sea Clan and Wind Spirit Clan—aren’t they just afraid of retaliation in the future? But what about the Supremes? Why are they not intervening?”
Discussions spread like wildfire across the land. Many among the great clans looked anxious; the old generation especially cast repeated glances toward the towering figure cloaked in mist. Though none dared to peer directly at his upper form, their hearts brimmed with both desperation and disappointment.
At the edge of the imperial platform, Wang Shanhe had already soared skyward, throwing himself into battle with the kings of the Hidden Sea Clan.
Their respective domains tore into one another, releasing strange Dao-light that dazzled and disoriented. Nothing could be seen clearly.
Only the earth-shaking blasts and the raw aura of Dao Origins echoed through the void like whips of chaos, ripping the sky open in jagged wounds. Heaven and earth trembled.
Within this maelstrom, the young talents atop the mountain were shielded beneath the protective wards of the Immortal Kings from their respective factions. Even a stray shred of domain backlash would be enough to obliterate a cultivator in the Immortal Lord realm.
Jianxin and Mingyue stood amid the clouds and mist. Though no one seemed nearby, a subtle power enveloped them, shielding them from the chaos beyond.
They stared in a daze at the scene. Though their cultivation had long since introduced them to Immortal Kings and broadened their horizons, this was still their first time witnessing a battle among kings. After all, their soul lifespans barely stretched past a few hundred years—they were still in their budding phase.
These Immortal Kings had struck solely to kill Li Hao. Their actions were born of dread, yes—but also of acknowledgment. That boy’s monstrous talent had rattled them deeply.
“Despicable Hidden Sea Clan... Once I take charge of the Ancient God Clan, I’ll make sure such lowlifes are thoroughly crushed!”
On the ground, Shen Wuji’s gaze was grim. Sheltered by an elder of the Ancient God Clan, he was unharmed but seething with fury.
“Young master, mind your words!”
The elder jumped in alarm. His voice was quick and urgent.
Never mind the fact that the Hidden Sea Clan was one of the top one hundred clans—whether Shen Wuji could even take control of the Ancient God Clan was far from assured. Strong as he was, the clan housed other prodigies, including monstrous talents born in earlier generations who were now cultivating deep within the Primordial True Realm.
Shen Wuji ignored him, eyes still locked with venomous hatred on the chaos above. As a True Immortal himself, the clash of Immortal Kings was mostly beyond his vision. What he could see was limited to scenes of Dao collapse, Immortal Dao laws swirling like chains before shattering, and, on rare occasion, a fleeting glimpse of battling figures.
The other young True Immortals wore equally complicated expressions.
In the distance, Di Linchen gazed toward the silhouette in the sky. His eyes flickered with thought.
He was weighing whether to invoke the authority of the Imperial Clan on the boy’s behalf.
If he stood forth as a representative of the Imperial Clan, the Hidden Sea Clan and Wind Spirit Clan would be forced to back off. Even the Supreme might have to extend him a measure of respect.
But… his gaze shifted toward the participants of the Immortal Lord realm battle group.
There, the finest young talents of major clans stood gathered. Some of them already outshone many True Immortal realm prodigies. They were the true monsters at the pinnacle of their bloodlines.
Among them was Gui Lingshuang of the Ghost Clan. Though she and Gui Lingyue were sisters, their ages differed by less than three years.
Amid these proud figures, one silver-robed silhouette stood out like a crane among chickens. An old man trailed behind him, yet it was the youth’s presence that radiated incomparable brilliance. Rings of Dao-light circled his frame, Immortal sigils shimmered in auspicious patterns behind him, and far above his head—in the distant starry sky—a celestial body twinkled faintly in response, as though answering his very existence.
This young man radiated nobility and magnificence. Even among the elite descendants of the great clans, he remained aloof, a class above.
And that sigil on his sleeve was unmistakable across the True Realm… it belonged to the Imperial Clan.
Of all those who had come to the Southern Region to compete, he was one of only two members of the Imperial Clan.
Within their clan, this youth had been a famed prodigy since childhood—a quasi-Imperial Scion. As for Di Linchen himself… he had yet to reach that level.
His drinking and merry-making were just another form of escapism.
If that young man were willing to speak on the boy’s behalf, this entire conflict could be brought to an end. But...
As if sensing his gaze, the silver-robed youth looked toward Di Linchen. Their eyes met—one pair flickering with unease, the other cold and indifferent.
Then the youth turned away.
